  Council Member

  Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

  Trained Mediator, as I am a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CiARB) and a Member of the Institute of Directors.

  I have lived on the Island for 30 years and have brought up my family here and was Director of Operations at the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC). I worked for the Commission for 20 years and during this time the AGCC was able to make a contribution to the States of Alderney of £38M.

  Council Member

  Ian is in his second term as a Chamber Council Member, and leads on the topics of energy and digital. He became involved with the Alderney Chamber because he is keen to support existing businesses and start-ups on the island, and strongly believes that Alderney is in a great position to attract businesses, visitors and new residents with its unique lifestyle and offering.

  Ian is a Chartered Environmental Manager and runs a sustainability software company based in Guernsey, having worked for a number of years in commercial roles in infrastructure, engineering and the environment. He moved to Alderney four years ago with his wife Jo.

  Nigel Lawrence

  Vice President - Alderney Chamber of Commerce

  An Alderney resident for 30 years I have a broad experience of business on and off the Island. I have a particular interest in transport and this is particularly important at the present time with both air and sea services in the spotlight. I serve on the Transport Sub-Group and also on the Postal Board.

  For the past 17 years I have been editor of the worldwide monthly magazine “Shipping Today & Yesterday” covering all aspects of Merchant Shipping”.

  As President of the Alderney Chamber for the past 18 years, my focus remains on transparency, democratic decision making and working positively with the States of Alderney.   My aim is more to the future well being of the island rather than creating small immediate adjustments.

  Co-Opted Council Member - Marketing & Social Media

  Set up and ran successful hi-tec PR agency in London “BUSINESS IMAGE” employing 15 full-time staff , with associated offices in Paris, Milan and Munich. Agency was sold to the Shandwick group in 1986. Moved to Alderney in 1990  and ran a corporate events company “Business & Pleasure” across the Channel Islands. Became the States of Alderney Public Affairs & Marketing Manager in 1994 and retired in 2004. I continue to be actively involved in local organisations, promoting activities and communicating via social media – on a purely voluntary basis.
