On 16th and 17th April, our member the Alderney Wildlife Trust will be hosting a 2-Day Outdoors First Aid Course on the island and have some spaces left for our members which they offer at the discounted rates.
Course Description:
A 2-day 16+ hours of guided first aid learning through a mixture of practical casualty and scene scenarios coupled with group discussion and lectures. This course will give you the skills necessary to feel confident leading small groups in the outdoors. Led by Trainer and experienced Expedition Medic, Wayne Jones, Forest Knights, Sussex.
As many AWT activities are delivered outside, including tool work, navigating uneven ground and traversing rocky beaches, we feel it is a good opportunity to help upskill our cohort of volunteers.
We are pleased to be able to offer a reduced rate for volunteers of £90 for the full course, inclusive of certificates (usually £150-£175pp). We will also cover the remainder of the costs. If you are interested and have availability, please complete the attached registration form as soon as possible as we only have a limited number of spaces available.
The anticipated timings will be 9:15am until 17:00. The course will be delivered mostly outside at Essex Farm with access to facilities, unless the weather is particularly awful, in which case we can use the Barn or Lab. There may be opportunity to work within the Community Woodland for part of the course, however, this will very much be weather dependant and will be organised nearer the time.
You will need to bring;
- Waterproofs
- Warm clothes
- Appropriate footwear
- Lunch
- Water
We will supply refreshments for breaks.
Upon completion of the course, you will receive a UK recognised certificate evidencing your qualification, which is valid for 3 years.
