Alderney, 25 April 2024: With Artificial Intelligence (AI) rapidly shaping the future of work and communication, the Alderney Chamber of Commerce is keen to ensure local businesses aren’t left behind. AI tools now offer small enterprises powerful ways to reach wider audiences and work more efficiently, and the Chamber wants Alderney to benefit.
To help kickstart this conversation, the Chamber invited filmmaker and social media strategist Cameron Cairnduff to deliver a beginner-friendly workshop on Wednesday 23 April at the Georgian House Orangery. The 90-minute session was attended by 29 people from across Alderney’s business community and the States of Alderney, all keen to explore how AI might support their work.
Cameron opened the session by demystifying AI and showing how it’s already part of daily life—through tools like Google Search, predictive text and shopping recommendations. He then led a live demonstration of powerful AI tools including ElevenLabs for voiceovers, Opus Clip for video editing, Suno for AI-generated music, Photoshop AI, ChatGPT and several custom GPTs designed for real business use cases.
Attendees also learned how to use ChatGPT to generate press releases, emails, business plans and competitor analyses in minutes, along with practical advice on prompt writing, common concerns and how to get started.
“The aim,” said Cameron, “was to make it approachable. I really want to give Alderney residents a chance to use AI tools to help themselves and the island.”
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many describing the session as eye-opening and energising.
For those who missed it, the full presentation is now available on YouTube under the title:
