Alderney, 7 October 2026: The Alderney Chamber of Commerce is delighted to welcome Mr Gabriel Raimondo, Deputy for St Brelade in the Jersey States Assembly, to Alderney from Friday 9 to Sunday 11 October.
Gabriel was elected to Jersey’s States Assembly earlier this year at the age of just 18, becoming its youngest-ever elected member.

The Chamber has invited Gabriel to Alderney to share his experience of becoming involved in public life at such a young age and to encourage wider discussion about democracy, community service and participation in island life.
The centrepiece of the visit will be an open public briefing and discussion at
The Orangery, Georgian House, on Saturday 10 October from 10:30am to 11:30am.
Why stand? Why vote? Why get involved?
Gabriel will talk about why he decided to stand for election, what he learned from the experience and why he believes people of all ages should consider getting involved in their communities. His short talk will be followed by questions and an open discussion.
Everyone is welcome to attend. There is no need to book.
The visit comes ahead of Alderney’s General Election on 21 November and is intended to encourage people across the community, particularly younger residents and those who may not previously have considered becoming involved in public life, to think about the different ways in which they can contribute.
The visit is not intended as a political campaign event. Rather, the Chamber hopes Gabriel’s unusual experience will provide a useful starting point for a wider conversation about representation, voting, standing for election and contributing to the community.
During his visit Gabriel will also meet pupils at St Anne’s School on Friday and spend time meeting members of Alderney’s business, voluntary and wider community. We are arranging a radio and press interviews.
The programme has deliberately been kept flexible to allow local groups to get involved.
Any club, society, charity, sports club, voluntary organisation or other community group that would like to meet or host Gabriel at some point on Friday or Saturday is warmly encouraged to contact the Chamber by email to info@alderneychamber.com
The Chamber hopes as many people as possible will come along to the Georgian House on Saturday morning, meet Gabriel and join the conversation.
