“Made In Alderney” – a new group connected to and welcomed by the Alderney Chamber of Commerce

Last month, the Alderney Chamber of Commerce welcomed a new independent group under its umbrella. The purpose of the “Made in Alderney” group is to support the small, handmade, ‘micro-businesses’ on Alderney.
Chairperson Jo Corder explained: “Made in Alderney markets were sporadic with various individuals taking it upon themselves to run one as needed. It was sometimes hard to find out when the next market was planned, or who you needed to speak to to take part.”
The four-person-strong subcommittee has come together to plan and promote more markets, as well as to look at further options for sales and promotion for craft-based Alderney businesses. They’ll also be supporting new entrepreneurs – including students – with what, for many, is their first introduction to running a business.
“We’d love to set up a pop-up shop for the summer, and we’ll be running more markets too. We’re also exploring ideas for websites, and even for a weekend ‘open workshop’ event like the ‘open gardens’ run by the Horticultural Society.”
If anybody has a craft-based microbusiness and would like to join the group, or has any other help to offer these entrepreneurial individuals, please get in touch with Jo Corder on 07781 419516
