TAX PRESENTATION – FRIDAY 17 OCTOBER ’25

TAX PRESENTATION – FRIDAY 17 OCTOBER

A somewhat animated meeting in the Anne French Room on Friday advised that Alderney business was not in favour of GST –  no matter in what guise it may be put forward.

Four Guernsey Civil Servants offered a comprehensive power point presentation as to what a potential introduction of a form of GST could mean for the island.   It was stressed that they were not advocating GST, they were presenting facts, figures and differing scenarios.   It was then for the politicians of both Alderney and Guernsey to debate the topic.

About 30 members attended the meeting with many putting forward their concerns – no one spoke in favour of GST.

Chamber President Andrew Eggleston thanked the Civil Servants for putting on this presentation, saying that the next stage would be for Chamber to discuss the issue with our politicians having been given much background from Guernsey’s Civil Service.
