The Alderney Wildlife Trust’s (AWT) Reserves and Sites Management Strategy 2025-2030

MESSAGE FROM THE ALDERNEY WILDLIFE TRUST

Good morning,

The Alderney Wildlife Trust’s (AWT) Reserves and Sites Management Strategy 2025-2030 is now out for review for the next 5 weeks, welcoming the views of stakeholders and the public before its publication at the end of the year.

The strategy sets out integrated approaches to habitat restoration, species conservation, visitor access and engagement, to ensure Alderney’s natural spaces continue to thrive throughout this period and beyond.

Local support is key to the work in the reserves and sites on Alderney. At the outset of this plan collecting the views of the public was crucial to developing a plan that was fit for purpose. There was an excellent response to the 2024 survey with the people of Alderney contributing their views and suggestions to develop the strategy.

This is now an opportunity to provide feedback which will be taken on board before the completion of the document prior to publication. The consultation period begins on the 29th September 2025 and will end on the 3rd November 2025.

The document is available to download on our website here – https://www.alderneywildlife.org/current-projects/nature-reserves – and paper copies will be available to read in the AWT Information Centre on Victoria Street. Feedback would be gratefully received via email, submissions to the webform on our website, or by letter (please see contact details below).  If you wish to give feedback in person we will be holding:

  • Strategy information evening on the 20th October at 5:30pm in the AWT Information Centre
  • Drop-in session in the office opposite 10am – 4pm on the 27th October
  • Or get in touch with us to arrange a meeting

Comments received will be anonymised and published in the appendices of the strategy alongside a response.

Any further questions please get in touch.

Kind regards,
Poppy Emmens and George Tindall
